Mental Health Awareness Day

Course Aims

The aim of this course is to give an insight of a wide range of Mental Health Disorders including Depression, Silent Depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Addictions, OCD’s, Eating Disorders and Personality Disorders including Schizophrenia & Bipolar Disorder.

The course is aimed at health and social care workers at all levels, who care for people in mental health and health & social care in order to deliver safe and inclusive care and maintain a positive environment.

Learners are to undertake written assessment.

Course Content

On successful completion of this course the learner will be qualified to:

  • Operate within the legal boundaries and know the policies and guidelines with regard to caring for people with mental health disorders.
  • Be aware of the history and myths surrounding mental illness.
  • Understand what causes mental illness.
  • Have knowledge of the different types of mental illness and their symptoms
  • Understand the needs and experiences of people with mental health conditions.
  • Be able to recognise the importance of promoting positive health and well-being for an individual who may have a mental health condition.
  • Understand the way forward and the treatment and help that is available
